While companies strive to do an effective job of their own cyber security and data protection, the focus on protecting a company’s borders is no longer adequate. CISOs must expand their focus to include the cyber security and data protection programs of third party providers.
In this session we will discuss the challenges of assessing the adequacy of data and cyber security protections provided by third-party service providers, and offer practical ideas to success.
7:50pm-9:00pm: Cloud Based Security Incidents
Joseph Rivela, Breach Intelligence, LLC, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer
You can outsource the function but you cannot outsource the risk. This statement has been true of 3rd party suppliers and remains to be true when outsourcing to cloud providers. But not all providers are in a position to adequately defend, detect or deter cyber-attacks when they arise within their environment and in some cases, organizations will need to mobilize their own incident response teams and executive management in order to ensure cyber incident are managed effectively.
In this session we will discuss lessons from the field, challenges of responding to cyber incidents associated with 3rd party suppliers and controls to consider within cloud provider contracts.
